Privacy policy

This website, forbiddencurrent.com, is operated by Quantum Armadillo, LLC ("we"), which is the controller of the personal data described here. This policy describes what the site actually does.

What we collect, and why

Launch and release emails (the list)

If you ask to be notified, we store your email address, which volumes you asked about, the page you signed up on, the time, and a one-way, secret-salted hash of your IP address (used to limit abuse; it cannot be turned back into your address). We send one email asking you to confirm. Until you click the confirm button in that email you are not on the list, and unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 30 days (the clean-up runs as people use the sign-up form, so in quiet periods it can run late).

We use the list only to tell you when a volume can be ordered, about new volumes, and about corrections. We do not sell, rent or share the list. Every list email has an unsubscribe link that works with one click. The confirmation email is a one-off: if you did not ask for it, ignore it and nothing happens.

Contact form

If you send a message we store your name, email address, topic, message, the time, your country as reported by our network provider, and a one-way hash of your IP address. The message is also forwarded by email to the publisher's inbox so we can reply. We use it only to answer you.

Bot protection

Pages with forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. Turnstile runs in your browser and Cloudflare processes signals from it under its own privacy policy; we receive only a pass or fail result.

Analytics

This site currently runs no analytics script. If we add one, it will be cookie-free Cloudflare Web Analytics and this section will be updated first.

Orders

Ordering is not open yet. This policy will be updated, before ordering opens, to describe how order data is handled.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own and has no accounts or logins. On pages with a form, Cloudflare Turnstile (the bot check) may use browser storage.

Where it is stored

The site and its database run on Cloudflare's network (Cloudflare Pages and D1), which may process data in the United States and other countries. Emails are sent through Cloudflare's email service.

How long we keep it

• List entries: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. After you unsubscribe we keep your address and signup record, marked as unsubscribed, so it is not mailed again.
• Unconfirmed sign-ups: 30 days (deleted at the next sign-up after that, so occasionally later).
• Contact messages: as long as needed to answer and keep a record of the exchange, or until you ask us to delete them.
• Rate-limit records (hashed IP address, hashed email address, and time): 2 days. The hashed IP address stored with a list entry or contact message is kept as long as that entry or message.
• Mail log (hashed recipient address, time, and whether sending succeeded): kept for troubleshooting.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from any email. You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, using the contact form. Depending on where you live you may have further rights (for example under the GDPR or California law), including the right to complain to a data-protection authority; we will honor them.

The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

When what the site does changes, this page changes first, and the date above is updated.
